“But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” Mark 13:24-26 KJV
Notice that the verses say that “after that tribulation…shall they see the Son of man coming”. There is no flying away, in a rapture, listed anywhere in Mark 13 before these verses. The “rapture” is actually a gathering and is not mentioned until verse 27, after “they see the Son of man coming” in verse 26. The word rapture is found nowhere in the bible.
That is the proper interpretation of bible prophecy, that Jesus, the Christ will send angels to gather His remaining servants after the dead in Christ rise first, after the Great Tribulation, to rule and reign on the earth with and for Him during the Millennium. The request of the Our Father Prayer, “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” will be answered further at that time.
I have noticed an unhealthy attitude in the modern church that says “I don’t need to be prepared because I’ll be flying away before the tribulation anyways”. Whatever you believe about the rapture, it is important to be prepared for whatever comes down the pike. It is better to occupy until Jesus comes like the nobleman said in a parable in Luke 19:13, “Occupy till I come”.
